Dr. Simon Clarke
Sept. 1969 – March 1975
Simon Clarke was an innovative principal establishing Green Island High as a pioneer among secondary schools. He is especially noted for lobbying for the introduction of an upper school programme in the new secondary school. At that time students in the new secondary schools completed their schooling at grade 9. He also recognized the importance of proper nutrition to academic success and established a vibrant breakfast programme utilizing the products from the school farm.
Mr. Hayden Forde
April. 1976 – Feb. 1981
Hayden Forde distinguished himself as an outspoken disciplinarian. He was not afraid to clearly speak his mind about issues of character, morality, and integrity. He is described as caring about the well being of the staff and would take timeout to personally entertain them.
Mr. Brian Breese
Sept. 1983 – August 1987
Brian Breese like his predecessors was a strong disciplinarian. He genuinely believed in the intrinsic worth of persons, and emphasized the development of strong values. He would always give individuals a chance to prove themselves.
Mr. Ansel Brown
Sept. 1988 – Aug. 2003
Ansel Brown emphasized the development of proper morals and values among the student population and insisted on the highest ideals of deportment. He was very sociable, approachable and a good listener forming a strong relationship with his staff.
